Bye Bye for now.

Some things I learned this past week:

1. Don't go on a 2 mile hike around a mountain lake with a cup of coffee in your hand,
and no bathrooms till the end of the trail.

2. A mother knows what will make that special little gift for the little girl left at home: A sack of magic rocks, that are actually irregular shaped magnets that have a high gloss paint on them and in the shape of large pebbles.

3. My daughter and I have the same sarcastic sense of humor.

4. Love really knows no bounds.

5. Always, Always: the more you give, the more you receive

6. How to watch music videos on my computer.

7. How to add links to my post.

8. Slot machines only pay off to the other guy.

I will be out of commission for the next 3 weeks, Looking forward to closing on the book store I am buying, seeing my hubby that I miss very much, {well 2 weeks of missing} see my pooch, and spend time with grand daughters. Most likely will run into that daughter of mine again, and that will all be good. Got to slap some more paint too. I may find a computer to check in on the blogging world from time to time. God I can't believe how addicted I have become to this keyboard.

Udderly true

Ya'll enjoy this now...

All I Need To Know About Life

I Learned From A Cow

Wake up in a happy mooo-d.

Don't cry over spilled milk.

When chewing your cud, remember. . .
There is no fat, no calories, no cholesterol
and no taste!

The grass is greener
on the other side of the fence.
Turn the udder cheek

and mooo-ve on.

Seize every opportunity and milk it for all it's worth!

It's better to be seen and not herd.

Honor thy fodder and thy mother
and all your udder relatives.

Never take any bull from anybody.

Always let them know who's bossy!

Stepping on cow pies brings good luck.

Black and white is always
an appropriate fashion statement.

Don't forget to cow-nt your blessings every day.

GEMS MAY BE PRECIOUS,
BUT FRIENDSHIP IS PRICELESS!

Catching up with daughter

Can't believieve the 3 days is over. Picked daughter up at airport late Fri. Tried to cram alot in to catch up on alot of missed time. I actually think we pretty much succeded. Sat went to Lake Tahoe, did a 2 mile hike around Spooner Lake, was beautiful, see her post for the naughtiness we got into at one casino. Cindy Later we looked at a million pictures, Sun, drove around town, breakfast out and played penny slots, more pictures and another hike, Mon. went to Va. City for the tourist thing. Spent alot of time playing on the computer, learned alot of things from that girl, she is very smart.Oh, I also gave her a tour of the brothals in the area, needed to keep this a well rounded tour. LOL In all it was time well spent. So glad I didn't miss this opportunity to have some quality girl time. Sorry we didn't get into any real trouble and no tats this time. Will save that treat and maybe plan a trip next year out to have it done in the best tatoo parlor in Salem. I hear there is a very good one there. So now I have to get "my big girl panties" on and get busy and get organized for my little trip to Mo. Take care all. dc Hugs to No. 1 daughter, thanks so much for spending the time with me. It means more than you can imagine.

Full Moon?

I know the full moon is past but last nite at work sure felt like a REALY full moon. Had a lock down due to fight, had to send one out for sutures, then a bus load came in from the south and one guy was so sick, had to be taken to ER. That was 2 trips by custody to hosp in a couple hrs. Takes 2 guys to escort there, plus they had a 3rd, I don't know about. So we did unit to unit pill call due to short staffing. Had 2 die the day before. Just craziness going on.

Ready for my company, been shopping for lots of veggies for snacking. Getting off work an hr earlly to get to the airport. Gee, Reno on Fri nite with Street Vibrations going on, didn't plan this too well. Should be interesting.

Ya'all have a great weekend,{practicing my southern drawl here} dc

sense of humor

Yesterday while on IM with my favorite daughter, we were having a good chuckle. As you may know from her blog, she is trying to get in touch with her dad to find out what has become of her brother the last few weeks, as he doesn't answer his phone or return e-mails, or IM. Anyway we were kidding that they all took a cruise or something. I said, well maybe the rapture happened and we got left behind, and C. said Well at least I won't miss my trip!(coming to Nv. to spend weekend with me this Fri.} I had to think a min. of how funny and how important this trip is. She does have a witty sense of humor that I love.

Had a nice little rain during the night, sage smells so good this morning. I still feel creepy checking the house out with a gun in my hand. Boy if anyone was here they would be sorry!!

Well the scales don't show any wt loss yet, but jeans feel looser, of course maybe its because I have worn them all week, you think?

A little serendipity

Tonight at work, my medical officer that I have talked about, Pat, brought up a subject. Now we have never talked about this topic, but on her day off yesterday she said she stopped into this shop down town that has a psycic and she wanted to check out some things. Her mom passed away about a month ago and she wanted to see if someone could check to see if she was OK and happy about where ever she was. Seems the psycic was a real young chick and when Pat asked her about what it cost and what she does. She said 75$ to 240$ depending on how much physic energy Pat had and how long it would take her. Pat said thanks and walked out. This was not what she was looking for. Isn't it ironic that Em has just seem a medium and had a wonderful experience and then this topic comes up with Pat. Verrrrrry interesting. Now we need to find someone closer, Em does your lady travel and do some sort of circut? Just a thought.

My AC

Age 18, taken with his dad. Didn't he think he was cool? Many times I have wished I had known him back then, ha ha but I would only have been 3 years old so that wouldn't have worked. But I wish I had known the young man that he was. He had already lived alot of his life when I met him when he was 49. He is rather private person and was raised at a time when men were men and never cried. He has a hard time expressing his feelings. As I have said, I believe he has a young soul and has alot to learn and it sure won't be in this life time. I beleive we were ment to be together to learn things from each other and that is how it should be. Not always wedded bliss but pretty darn good most of the time. What more can a woman ask for?

Don't mess with momma

AC called from our "home" in Mo. Got there safe and sound. Said he was swatting crickets that had invaded the house. After a brief chat with him, I walked around with a big smile on my face, guess I really love that silly man. The house is so quiet with him and dog gone. But any pervs. out there, this old gal is following AC's instruction to the letter. My trusty 22 is in my hand when I come in the house and check things out!! God I hate guns! Now if I show up in Mo. with some missing toes it will be all his fault. Right?

The year was 1973

The young woman was 26 years old, married and mother of 2 children. She did not know that this would be the year to change her world forever.

The 1st of April she had a birth defect corrected. You see she was born with a protruding lower jaw, causing an underbite. She always felt so self conscious of this and would try to not let her teeth rest together till her jaws ached. When she learned of the surgery that could repair it, she jumped at the chance regardless of the risks. Only one month later, with wires still in place holding the jaws together, her father died.

She stood at the foot of his hospital bed with tears running down her cheeks and hung onto his foot, as the Dr. gave him an injection into his heart, but told her it was like beating an old worn tire. He slipped away without this woman being able to tell him how much he ment to her. He would never see what she was to become.

In Aug of this year a trip was made from the midwest to Washington State to visit sisters who lived there. By Nov one of the sisters was divorcing her husband. This hit home to cause doubts in the stability of marriages in general.

By the first of Sept. she found herself a new student of nursing, although at the time she did not realize how far this would take her and the strength it would provide.

It would be 1980 before her own marriage fell apart, but even back in 1973 she knew deep in her heart that she needed to prepare herself to be able to stand on her own two feet. She knew that she was more than just a wife and mother. She was a person who had a deep desire to grow and expand in herself. But she didn't know that 1973 was to be,,,, just the beginning.

sharing old journal

Sitting here relaxing all by myself this afternoon, {after working all morning} and picked up this journal that I kept for one year and started reading it. It is one of those small "year books" with about 3 inches of space for each day of the year. I would jot entries of daily activities. Man it wears me out when I read it, but that is another story. I was living in So. Ia. at the time on a farm. The year is 1979 No this is not the year I am going to write about later. This just happened to be the year I keep this journal. I want to share a few pages that Em will find interesting,
June 23, Called Mary this morning found out Marge had left Bob and her and Em had packed up and headed for Mo. to live!.
June 26th. Marge called from Des Moines about 5;30 and will be in here later this evening... Marge and Em got her at 10;30...
June 27, Went to Fairfield for groc and to check about Marge keeping the U-haul a few extra days, It will cost her 6$ a day extra. Ron will be here Mon nite.[He lived in Kentucky at the time} Had Mom out for supper, Em having fun with the kids. fishing, riding the horse and motor cycles and catching fire flies. She had never seen them before.
June 28, Marge decided to find a place in Fairfield to live and get jobs for her and Em. Marge and Em out house hunting and checking on jobs.
June 29, Took Marges U-haul back to Fairfield. Stopped in to talk to Jim, got a promise of Jim's apt that will be vacant Aug 1.
July 6, Marge has decided to move back to Wa. going down to Mary's next week then leave from there for Wa. July 8, Ron's, Marge, Em and us went to Center Chapel to church. Aunt Flossy and uncle Hilmer came in afternoon to visit
July 11, Marge and Em left at 10 am.. All their stuff is left in our garage for us to ship to them when they get there. { you know it only seemed like you stayed with us all summer. LOL}

I am sure this is boring as heck to everyone and I lost you somewhere along the line but that is OK ... This is my blog and if I want to copy old journals I guess I can. Hope you gals find this amusing at least.

On the road again

He did. Left smiling.

AC headed to Mo. today, feels funny to be the one staying at home. 2 weeks to do as I please. Think I will loose 5 pounds. What do you think. LOL.
Have alot of projects to work on, clean my work bench, varnish the new railing, wash deck, clean house, GET Ready for some company next weekend, I am so looking forward to. Went to range and did a little target practice this week, my 22 is going to be on hand and I am a pretty good shot if any surfer muggers are reading this.
Been working on my post for that year in my life that was my turning point. Will get it posted this weekend. Right now, probably better go back to bed, only slept 4 hrs, or make some stronger coffee and get busy. dc

9-11

I know we all must be remembering where we were on that 9-11 that we can't ever forget. We were camping at a pretty remote lake in north east Nevada and that morning had the portable radio on. We had planned to come home the next day, but as we listened, spell bound to the radio, we just knew we wanted to be home. So we packed up and headed home, listening to the truck radio for 6 hrs. It just felt better to be safe at home when we didn't know what was going on in the country.

Sunday Morning

First Frost last nite. Lucky we covered the tomatoe plants. Froze the cucumbers but they were about done. Our garden area is fenced 6 ft tall with the top covered also to keep critters out. This morning the top was lined up with quail sitting all fluffed up in the sun warming up. AC has raised alot of baby quail this year. They come to the bird feeder area where he puts about 2 quart of feed on the ground for them each day.

Making a peach cobbler this morning. yummy.

Nevada's Claim to Shame

I see in today's paper that the Nevada couple is pleading guilty to putting the human finger in the bowl of Wendy's chili. Looks like she might spend about 10 years in prison, hope she gets chile served regularly. Shame on her!!

I tag Late Bloomer to answer the questions. Scan down a few entried and you will see the 7 questions. Have fun.

Update on the prison break. The guy was seen in Las Vegas this week, chased by patrol, wrecked his car, held a lady at gunpoint and stole her car. Had a chick with him and they both got away. Well he's had it now, they are like Bonnie and Clyde. Have seen a big step up in security at work, more careful screening as we all come to work. I'm waiting for the pat downs to start, then I will be wanting over time!!!! LOL. everyone have a fun weekend. Its fall, enjoy it.

Me, most mornings

I am so PO'd

Does anyone know how to make peach jam without all the sugar.??? I have screwed up 2 batches so far. They taste great but look bad. first one I used the surgel for "less sugar". Well it didn't set up so is more an icecream topping. The batch today was a receipt for sugarless, You use some splenda. It really tastes good but looks like Gerbers baby peaches. I know its the sugar that makes it clear and pretty, so maybe I am stuck. Anyone have an old receipt book for directions that don't call for 6 to 8 cups of sugar. I just can't go there. Might as well buy Smuckers! Well I have ranted enough. Still have lots of peaches to practice on. No sense putting alot in the freezer as we can't eat that many peaches in a year.
Had to work till 2 AM last nite, short staffed. Orienting a new nurse that in someways is so dumb blond. She has worked in a correction facility some time back and I asked her how many she had to give meds to, and her answer was "All of them" Oh, man. I am not kidding.

News from PrisneyLand

Well tonight was interesting, Had a power outage, so running on auxillary power. not sure yet what was the cause. Had an interesting incident with an inmate. remember my entry about my medical officer Pat. She is really cool. We were giving meds to one young guy and he said " my celly says he is going to commit suicide." Pat talked to the celly a few min, and we were going to just call the phycologist who was still at the facility to come evaluate him. But the first young man, said "can I talk to you in the hall." This is a little unusual to let one come out of the cell, but you could see he was scared. He said,"he's got a razor blade in his mouth." So we got some backup from the floor officers and by the time they got there Pat had talked the guy into giving her the razor blade, no fuss, then he was cuffed and taken to the mental health unit. Had it been a male officer I am sure they would have made a big deal and used force> you know we give them the razor blades! yea, the disposable ones, all they have to do is take the blade out.
Now on the scandel of the excape inmate, still loose, but did arrest our dental tech, and 2 other ex inmates in connection. As a results, security has been beefed up. I am waiting for my pat down. dang! You think they trust me?
