sharing old journal

Sitting here relaxing all by myself this afternoon, {after working all morning} and picked up this journal that I kept for one year and started reading it. It is one of those small "year books" with about 3 inches of space for each day of the year. I would jot entries of daily activities. Man it wears me out when I read it, but that is another story. I was living in So. Ia. at the time on a farm. The year is 1979 No this is not the year I am going to write about later. This just happened to be the year I keep this journal. I want to share a few pages that Em will find interesting,
June 23, Called Mary this morning found out Marge had left Bob and her and Em had packed up and headed for Mo. to live!.
June 26th. Marge called from Des Moines about 5;30 and will be in here later this evening... Marge and Em got her at 10;30...
June 27, Went to Fairfield for groc and to check about Marge keeping the U-haul a few extra days, It will cost her 6$ a day extra. Ron will be here Mon nite.[He lived in Kentucky at the time} Had Mom out for supper, Em having fun with the kids. fishing, riding the horse and motor cycles and catching fire flies. She had never seen them before.
June 28, Marge decided to find a place in Fairfield to live and get jobs for her and Em. Marge and Em out house hunting and checking on jobs.
June 29, Took Marges U-haul back to Fairfield. Stopped in to talk to Jim, got a promise of Jim's apt that will be vacant Aug 1.
July 6, Marge has decided to move back to Wa. going down to Mary's next week then leave from there for Wa. July 8, Ron's, Marge, Em and us went to Center Chapel to church. Aunt Flossy and uncle Hilmer came in afternoon to visit
July 11, Marge and Em left at 10 am.. All their stuff is left in our garage for us to ship to them when they get there. { you know it only seemed like you stayed with us all summer. LOL}

I am sure this is boring as heck to everyone and I lost you somewhere along the line but that is OK ... This is my blog and if I want to copy old journals I guess I can. Hope you gals find this amusing at least.

It made me smile!
It really does seem like we were there longer though... I find more and more that my memory can play tricks on me :)
I do remember those magical fire flies (and the "glow rings" we made, yuck) and matt trying to teach me how to ride his motorcycle... he chased me between corn rows, yelling for me to "put it in second" because I was going too fast for first...

It took several months to send your stuff. As I had to keep reboxing it as you would send me a list of what you wanted and the money to ship it. Ha. Ha. what a time. Will bring the little journal for you to ready.

We left Wa intending to go to Mo and we ended up in Ia. We left Ia and intended to go back to Wa, but Mr. Wonderful (no offense intended, he was an Ok guy from my perspective anyway) ended up moving to Salem while we were en route, that's how I ended up growing roots here. We never did make it back to Wa (or Mo. on that trip)...
The moral:
The destination of your journey may lead you somewhere you were not intending to go...
:)
